Zippo Classic Lighter

Zippo lighters have been made in Pennsylvania for decades; while not the most expansive lighter in the market this one is fully made in USA and is guaranteed for life. The simple elegance of it and the timeless style that has been copied but never replicated make this a perfect gift this holiday season.

Brooks Brothers Made in USA shoes

Brooks Brothers is a staple in American style, long before JCrew and Polo even existed BB was a default of Wall Street and anyone else that was a somebody or aspired to be a somebody one day. Sadly, as the world of globalization came to life, productions moved offshore.

But, not all is lost and Brooks Brothers slowly are coming back to their roots. And once again, I have to thank my boy Mike S for bringing this to my attention and as promised here is a post directly from the Delta lounge.

I'm also starting to think Mike is the only one that ever reads my posts, so if you're not Mike and read this - it would be great to get a comment.

ViewMaster 3D viewer

Found this little toy at work today, completely random during a meeting. The people gave it to my company to promote their product, of which the 3d pictures were available, but as I looked more carefully, I saw that the whole thing is made in USA, pretty cool.

Topo Designs Daypack

Topo Designs is a Colorado based outdoors company that really takes the design part of their brand seriously - and you can definitely see it in their products. Discussions of form, function and style along with color and material choice are at the forefront during product inception. The idea of simply making something decent and releasing it is not enough.

All their gear is made in USA, specifically at their plant in Colorado so you know they have outdoors in their blood.

Nokona Baseball Glove

There are few things as American as baseball, and sadly the amount of American companies making baseball gear is almost non existent. But, not in Nokona Texas. The town has been hand crafting baseball gloves in their factories since 1920s. These gloves are true works of art, and each one is a little different from one another, since everything is done by hand. These not only look awesome but also function like baseball gear should, start your own family tradition by having one of these.
And, I would like to give a very special shout out to my good friend Mike Semaan, an avid American enthusiast and baseball player for helping me find this company.

Ralph Lauren Polo Tie

It's the small things in life that count, everyone knows that, so finding a big item that's made in USA can sometimes be less satisfying than finding those little things that bring something unique to your style. And since this is a style oriented blog and I have to wear at least a tie to work every day, finding a nice tie that's made in USA really make my day. Here is one of my unique possessions, and not only is it American made, it's also hand made.

South2 West8 Backpack

Honestly, have you seen anything better looking than this bag? This kindles a great feeling of nastalgia for me, for my old JenSport backpack that I used to have in high-school. Now S2W8 guys really understand form and function and are making this amazing backpack. I really don't know what else to write, this is a true Made in USA classic.

Cutco Knives

One of the most important rooms in your house is your kitchen, so its important that the accessories that you store in the kitchen reflect your taste and style. Cutlery is probably the first thing that people notice once they're in your kitchen, and if you're actually cooking a meal for your guests during their visit then it for sure will get their full attention.

With Cutco cutlery, you can now entertain your guests and furnish your kitchen with true American style. The full line is made in USA, New York to be specific. And when I say full line, I really mean full line - any knife that you think you'd need to make you the next Wolfgang Puck... so start cooking - in style.

Room & Board bedroom drawer

This I actually came upon completely incidentally but it's been one of the most pleasant discoveries... With the new house we are looking for new furniture, so on our browsing trip to Room & Board while looking at bedrooms sets this furniture caught my eye and I immediately started tapping it and looking through the drawers to determine the quality of the wood, and this is what I saw branded into one of the drawers:

Hand Made in USA, North Dakota specifically. And yes, the quality along with the looks are awesome, this set definitely belongs in everyone's bedroom! Great job to R&B for sourcing domestic!

Goodyear Eagle F1 tyre

Look at your tires and it will most likely say they're made in Mexico, Thailand or elsewhere. Just like with anything, it's difficult to fun things that are still made in USA. Well, these Goodyear tyres are still made in the USA. I have to say, back in the day I had a set of Goodyear and wives to never use them again, but then again those were all season tyres and not the performance ones described here - so your mileage may vary, but at least you're getting something that American Made.

Klein leather belt

So this might not be the best belt to wear with your suit, but for either casual or if you're actually a carpenter, this is one great belt. It's great because this is an honest product, just some hide with a little Made in USA workmanship, all for less than $10, yes - you've read that right, for less than $10. And don't worry, size varies from 33 to 45, so anyone from a starving hipster to a good old redneck boy can sport one of these.

Harrison Harmonicas

So most likely you will never be Bob Dylan nor some other blues virtuoso, but you can still have fun in style that is pure American and will last for generations. Although only about two decades old, Mr. Brad Harrison's company has established itself as a true staple in the industry and his harmonicas are played by some of the giants of today's and yesterday's music. Proudly made in Illinois, this is one music instrument that everyone should own.

Octavio Leather iPad case

So this product really appeals to me, not only, and obviously, is it made in USA, but it's also made by a Minneapolis company and it's good for my iPad (and as I've mentioned before, I do everything from my iPad/iPhone, including writing this blog).
A lot of hand labor goes into this product, from properly sticking the leather to even including a magnetic cover at will automatically out to sleep and wake up your iPad when opening and closing. The fit and finish is reminiscent of the quality of old leather bound books and it will also appeal to your sense of style.

Rick Shaw iPad messenger bag

Leave it to American ingenuity to combine two things that hipsters love the most: apple products and bike messenger bags, and although I try to mock, I actually thing this bag is very cool bag? Proudly made in San Francisco this hand stitched messenger bag will house your iPad, and a few other small things that you might need on your ride or walk downtown, and it's also available in variety of colors.

Oakton Ties

Vintage tie day today, what a wonder that Italian style mixes with American tailorship. Excuse the finger, but I'm on the bus and that's the only way I could get the label to open up.

Stanley Measuring Tape

Ok, so not so much style but a lot of functionality. Today I was out at a local hardware store looking for a measuring tape to measure up a kitchen in the house that we are thinking about purchasing. Pleasantly surprised amongst a myriad of "imported" tapes stood out one that proudly displayed Made in USA on the label, needless to say that's the one that I bought.

I do have to pout out, that the Made in USA is a special tape, right next to it were many Stanley tapes that didn't have the USA label on them. Regardless, I appreciate Stanley offering a made in America option for their product.

Levi Strauss for Brooks Brothers

A combination of two American classics. Although individually the brands have migrated from some of their made in USA roots over the years for majority of the mainstream stuff, the really quality product is still being made in America. The style of Levi's classics are available in two different washes: 501, 505, 514. With regards to iconic style this probably makes the Top 5 of Best of Made in the USA.

Johnson Woolen Mills Backpack

So here is another story of revival. The original Johnson Woolen Mills have been producing products in Vermont since the late 19th century, but like too many of American companies they've fallen on hard times. Sometime around a decade ago a revival came, but the most important part was that the products are still made in the USA.

Today, hipsters rejoice at all the fashionable gear they can find at JWM, but know that even though it's plaid, it's so because of function and not because of current trends. I love this backpack.

Cold Splinters hiking shorts

Outdoors doesn't mean that your fashion sense will have to suffer, nor does it mean that form can't follow style. With the warm weather hitting most areas unusually early, now is the perfect time to gear up for your outdoor adventures with these all American made shorts. These being made by good people in Oregon, will function in the environment that they've been designed for for years to come. So stay cool this summer and stay in style.

Johnson Woolen Mills Plaid Shirt

Now this is a true made in America classic, made in Vermont to be specific. And not is it a classic, but this is an item that knows no boundaries, whether you're a hipster, a lumberjack or a grandpa, anyone can rock this shirt/jacket. Proudly made, for whatever function, it will keep you warm and in style. Many, many variations are available, but the green one shown here is my favorite.

Cremo Shave Cream

If you're a well glommed man, there are two choices for you: electric or wet shave. Personally I'm the electric type of guy, but if I ever go for a wet shave, I would only use the Creamo brand. The products are completely plant based with no animal testing what do ever, and most important it's fully made in the USA. And for those that use electric, don't despair, you can still dabble with this fine product with their face wash and face creams, both for men and women.

Devon Tread 1

Devon Works - Tread 1 Promotional Video from John Boros Productions on Vimeo.

I'm very excited to write about this wristwatch as I absolutely love watches. The only problem is there was never anything I could write about on this blog - since the few major wristwatch makes in the USA have closed their doors decades ago and Swiss and to an extent Japanese absolutely dominate the horology world in every price point. Well, not any more. The renowned American designer Scott Devon decided to change that. By building on the industry that still dominates America, aerospace, he was able to bring his creation to the market. This watch is completely made in the USA, not a single Swiss supplier was used and instead the American aerospace companies which provide unparalleled machine precision were utilized. This is something to be truly proud of, this is a big slap in the face to the Swiss dominated wristwatch industry and my only hope for the future that this watch will not become a one off but instead will provide a viable model for collectors to experience something made in the USA as opposed to the monopolies of Renaud & Papi, et al.

Duluth Pack iPad bag

I used to live on my iPhone, that thing would and still does everything for me, it's my music player, my video player on flights or even when laying in bed, it's my gps and it's the tool for writing this blog. Recently I got an iPad from my wonderful wife, and it quickly took over some of those functions from my iPhone -- specifically the larger screen realestate allows for much better experience -- I'm typing this as I'm drinking some coffee in a local joint that I just walked it. Anyways, I digress, because even if you're still trying to figure out what purpose will your iPad serve in your life, the carry choice is easy: Duluth Pack iPad bag is the the first and last in your selection, stylish, rugged and of course made in the USA. Treat yourself to one immediately.

Richard Sachs Custom Frames

If you're into cycling, then this brand needs no introduction, if you're just browsing, then know that what you're seeing is, by many, considered a true epitome of frame building. Having done this for more than a few decades, Mr. Sachs works out of his house in CT building frames directly fitted to the end customer. Prices are not cheap and by now the order list might be years long or even completely closed to new customers, but if you have a chance or means, you really will be the coolest kid on the block.
